Bayer lifts 2026 profit guidance after pharma unit tops forecasts
Bayer now targets currency-adjusted core earnings of 9.8 billion to 10.3 billion euros for 2026, up from 9.6-10.1 billion euros, after its pharmaceuticals division beat sales estimates in the third quarter.

The German conglomerate’s pharmaceuticals unit posted third-quarter sales of 4.68 billion euros, roughly 5% above analyst expectations compiled by Vara Research. That outperformance underpinned the upgraded group-wide guidance for 2026.
Chief Executive Bill Anderson described the division as having reached a meaningful inflection point, saying the business was “starting to show real improvement” in its growth trajectory.
Bayer also trimmed its full-year net financial debt estimate by 1 billion euros, now projecting a range of 28 billion to 29 billion euros. The combination of a brighter earnings path and a lighter debt load points to a strengthening balance sheet as the company works to turn around its pharma franchise.
Why it matters for markets: A healthier earnings and debt outlook at a major European pharmaceutical and chemicals group can support sentiment toward the stock and the broader healthcare sector within European equity indices such as the DAX 40, where Bayer is a constituent.
